Swami Rama Dhyana Gurukulam teaches the ancient knowledge and practical disciplines of the Meditation Tradition of the Great Yogis of the Himalayas in a contemporary context.
The Himalayan Tradition includes many paths of meditation leading to the Self of all, the source of Life, Consciousness and Bliss, taught systematically according to the state of the aspirant.
At our Gurukulam:
- Hatha yoga is taught in the context of meditation.
- Meditation and its practices are one of the core disciplines.
- The practices, as taught by Swami Rama are rooted in Patañjali’s Yoga Sutras, Tantra and Kundalini, and given according to the state of the aspirant.
- Scriptures like Bhagavad Gita and Upanishads are taught in the context of a meditative practice. These teachings were realized in the state of samadhi or Self-realization. Thus they are guides into the path of samadhi and their meaning can be comprehended in the realization of deep meditation.
The effects of meditation on our body, breath and mind are also being rigorously examined scientifically in the Meditation Research Institute of Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama, which is located on the campus.
Spiritual seekers are guided through the self-transformation required for the realization of their own true Self, the goal of life, the highest of all joys.
Students are trained to become teachers, leaders and spiritual guides in the tradition.
Independent from the Gurukulam the ashram also has practice programs and other combinations of self-study & Seva (selfless service).
