Who would suit it?

Any sincere spiritual seeker at any level of spiritual practices, disciplines and studies and with any cultural and religious background and previous studies and experiences but really desiring to learn and practice the purest form of knowledge of the Tradition of Yoga & Meditation as taught by the great ancient Yogis and Rishis of the Himalayas with the scientific and medical approach by H. H. Swami Rama of the Himalayas as a personal, practical, complete and direct system leading to deep Meditation and Samadhi ‘Self-realization’.

An aspirant for enrollment must understand that the rules of residence and practice are strict.

Students must study on campus for a minimum of one academic year (1st Oct., 2012 - 15th May, 2013).

An intermediate level of English is required.



Students are usually registered for one academic year (1st October - 15th May) within a 3-5 year program of studies and practices.

Students may stay in residence during the summer break (15th May – 30th Sep.).

After the 3-5 year program of studies and practices a qualified graduate at SRDG, with the approval of the Spiritual Guide, may continue in the Ashram and:

  • Teach any area or sub-area of learning and practice, if required; and/or
  • Proceed with his/her studies till a maximum of five more years of specialization in an area or sub-area of learning and practice.

Daily Routine

The daily routine is from 5:00 am till 9:00 pm. Classes are held six days a week, mostly in small groups of selected long term international students-spiritual seekers and aimed at their personal spiritual experience and as preparation for service as Teachers and Spiritual Guides.

The Gurukulam students are a small group of selected long term international students-spiritual seekers of multitude of cultures, religions, languages, backgrounds, previous studies and experiences and ages.
