H. H. Swami Veda Bharati

Mahamandaleshwar Swami Veda Bharati was born in 1933 in North India in a Sanskrit-speaking family and raised according to the Vedic Tradition.

He taught his first course on the Yoga Sutras of Patañjali at the age of nine. Newspapers in North India published accounts of his Vedic scholarship at age of 13. SVB lectured in colleges and universities and to crowds of thousands at that age throughout North India. It was known that he could interpret any passage from the Vedas at an instant's request.

He studied his B.A and M.A degrees in London and D.Litt. in Holland. Since 1947 Swamiji has been lecturing and teaching in all continents. In 1969, while he was a professor at the University of Minnesota, USA, he was initiated into the highest mysteries of the Tradition of Yoga & Meditation of the Himalayan Masters by his Guru, H. H. Swami Rama of the Himalayas.

He resigned from his position at the university soon after and has since spoken to and taught people around the globe.

He teaches Meditation from within the religious, spiritual and literary traditions of different world cultures and has guided Meditation in 17 different languages.

He practices the Spirituality that is beyond religion, culture, language, social status and education.

SVB is a unique Master within of the Himalayan Tradition of Yoga & Meditation known to guide crowds of up to 100,000 at a time into the serene state of Mediation.

His commentary on the Yoga Sutras of Patañjali is proclaimed by scholars as the most authentic work on the Sutras.

He has written 18 books, e.g. Philosophy of Hatha Yoga; Superconscious Meditation; Night Birds; God; Light of Ten Thousand Suns (poetry), etc.

Swamiji is the Founder-Spiritual Director of Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama Ashram, Rishikesh (Himalayas, INDIA), since 2002, and of The Meditation Center, Minneapolis, USA (since 1970). He guides the Association of Himalayan Yoga Meditation Societies International (AHYMSIN), aimed at making available the knowledge of Yoga Meditation within the Tradition of the Himalayan Masters, as taught by Swami Rama of the Himalayas. He also guides the institutions founded by Swami Rama in India, viz. he is the Spiritual Guide to the Himalayan International Institute of Yoga Science and Philosophy and to Swami Rama's Ashram in Rishikesh, and Chancellor of the Himalayan Institute Hospital Trust University, Dehradun.

SVB has scientifically demonstrated his capability for changing brain wave patterns in various meditation states as well as the power of mind over external matter. He directs a Meditation Research Institute Lab at his Ashram to study the beneficial changes in brain wave patterns during various states of Yoga and Meditation practices.

For over half a century, SVB has dedicated himself to various humanitarian efforts. He is the co-founder of KHEL (Kindness, Health and Education for Lepers), Dehradun, India. He is member of the World Parliament of Religions and the United Nation's World Council of Religious Leaders.

Swamiji was awarded with the title of Mahamandaleshwar, the second most prestigious spiritual award in India, just after Shankaracharya.

Most importantly, Swami Veda has gained total control over his mind and its modifications and remains in the Self-awareness of permanent deep Meditation while in daily life and masters, guides and initiates accurately into the authentic mysteries of the Tradition of Yoga & Meditation of the Himalayan Masters and also reveal the secrets of effective teaching on the vast methods leading to the Peace of deep Mediation and Samadhi, the highest goal of life.

In March 2013 SVB started a 5-year vow of silence and transmit the Light of Silence while residing permanently at Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama, Rishikesh.
