Swami Rama Dhyana Gurukulam

In the Tradition of Yoga & Meditation of the Himalayan Masters

General Approach

Hatha Yoga, Science of Breath, Yoga Psychology, Ayurveda and other yogic sciences along with disciplines and practices like non-violence, love, truthfulness, humility, egolessness, will power, self-control and observance, austerity, self-contentment, celibacy or loyalty to one's partner, etc. are traditionally taught and practiced at Swami Rama Dhyana Gurukulam (SRDG) as methods to purify, calm and focus the body-breath-mind in preparation for the practice of deep Mediation.

Besides, the Tradition of Yoga & Meditation of the Himalayan Masters as taught by Swami Rama, which is the traditional legacy of SRDG, highlights by its scientific approach in presenting and proving the knowledge, practices and results of Yoga and Meditation.

The Great Ancient Indian Scriptures, viz. Patañjali's Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita, Upanishads, Vedas, were acquired by the Rishis in Samadhi. Therefore they point out to what Samadhi is and reveal the methods to attain it. These Scriptures cannot be comprehended without the experience of deep Meditation.

Hence these Scriptures are taught at SRDG as knowledge and practices for deep Meditation and Samadhi. Otherwise, the Scriptural Study becomes mere philosophy or doctrine based on logic, grammar, faith, etc. Likewise, devoid of the Traditional Knowledge, Yoga becomes simple physical exercises.

SRDG prepares International Teachers talented to teach and guide within the Tradition of Yoga & Meditation of the Himalayan Masters from the contexts, practices and texts of different cultures, religions and spiritual traditions of the world, e.g. Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, etc.
